After speaking about it with a few friends and getting a few messages from the reel I posted on Instagram, I have learnt no-one has a bloody clue what a menstrual disc is. Also known as a flat-fit cup, Softdisc etc. etc; in fact, there are so many names, which is probably the cause of its lack of awareness. It is also fairly new to 'the mainstream', even if the concept itself is 25 years old. I think I first saw it advertised to me on some website maybe a year or two ago, which says a lot about the newness of the disc, because my browsing cookies should have told advertisers I'm the absolute perfect customer for any period-related products. Anyway, from your friendly neighbourhood tmi-gal, here is my explanation and review of the Intimina Ziggy Ultimate Comfort Flat-Fit Menstrual Cup (£32.99 without discounts)
The disc works by squishing it in half so it occupies the same square footage as a tampon, and shoving it, like downwards, towards the bootyhole instead of up? Then it’ll open up and sit at the very bottom of the cervix, covering the opening like a little upside down beanie, and it stays in place by the top being propped up by the pubic bone. Once in, you’re fine for 12 hours and getting it out is a simple hook and tug. Miiiiles easier than learning how to remove the cup. Here, watch this, it explains it better.
Now, because it sits so high up, the looooove canal is free to be used and abused; making the disc the only insertable period product that you can have a phallic object also in you. Making thirty quid a rather excellent investment, not having to worry about leakage during shagging.

The timing of my Lovehoney order was 10/10- I received it on the first day of my most recent period. I gave it a go on day 2, and I thought it went in ok, if a little low in my vag, but I went about my day happy as larry. Yeah, that was a mistake. We had some leakage and I could feel it had moved so it had almost came out :/. I put it in again and went to bed. Oh boy, blood everywhere. By some miracle, my sheets were clean (I sleep very naked), but it was a massacre on my thighs, if you’d like that visual. I had a lil google, and some people had issues with the first few days of their period, because apparently the cervix sits too low at the start. My answer to this was; THE CERVIX MOVES?
So, I gave it a rest and used my standard cup for a few days, until day 6 (yes I have long somewhat heavy periods but they aren’t painful thank god), where I shoved it up again. This time, it did seem to go up higher and did kinda stay tucked up behind my pubic bone. Yaaaaas. The next time I checked, it had slipped a little, but managed to collect my light *fluid* without leaks. The next morning; yep, it was squelchy and half out of me again, but luckily no leaks due the fact that there wasn’t much blood to be leaking.
So my verdict; I’ll probs use this on the last 2-3 days of my monthlies, and probably only to have sexy times with. It seems like the disc stays in better when I’m active. While I haven’t had sex in four and a half months and still have another few weeks before the boy comes back and I get a dick in me, I might give it a go with my dildo, and see if I get into a mess, or how vigorous I can be :). I can kinda feel that there is enough space to get something else up me, but I’m not a sure-believer that I could get a whole penis in me. Baffling to me that I can shove this silicone in me and not feel a thing and then also have a dick in me? Then again, the vagina is truly a mystical beast, and it wouldn’t surprise me if some magic stretching goes on down there and thrusting is a-go.
The more I use it, the more I’ll keep you updated with my progress, but so far, considering what I spent on the thing, I did expect the whole experience to be better. 2/5 grapefruits.

Staying hard up 5eva xoxo
